How Does Cremation Ash Jewelry Actually Work?

How Does Cremation Ash Jewelry Actually Work?

It’s one of the first questions people ask me: “How does the ash actually get inside the jewelry?"

So here’s exactly how it works.

For memorial jewelry, only a very small amount is needed. We’re talking about half a teaspoon or less. You don’t need to use the entire urn and you won’t be left with noticeably less than you started with.

How are ashes preserved inside the jewelry?

The process I use involves carefully measuring a small amount of your loved one’s ashes and incorporating them into a resin mixture. This resin is then poured into a ring setting, a pendant, a bracelet stone. Once cured, the ashes become permanently suspended inside the piece, visible as a soft texture or shimmer within the resin.

No two pieces look exactly the same. That’s intentional. The natural variation in ashes means your piece is truly one of a kind.

Is it obvious that it contains ashes?

Only if you want it to be. Many of my customers choose pieces that are beautiful to look at but don’t announce what they hold. To a stranger, it looks like a piece of jewelry with a unique stone. To you, it holds everything.

What if I’m not sure how much to send?

I’ll guide you through exactly what to send when you place your order. You’ll receive clear, detailed instructions and you can always message me first if you’re unsure. Nothing gets started until I confirm your materials have arrived safely.

Can ashes be combined with other materials?

Yes. Many people choose to combine ashes with a lock of hair, dried flowers from the funeral or even a small piece of fabric from a beloved item of clothing. Each inclusion adds another layer of meaning to the piece.

How long does it take?

Once I receive your materials, your piece is typically completed within 4–6 weeks. Everyorder is made by my hands alone, one at a time. I don’t rush this work.
